Glassboro, NJ – MyGlassTruck.com (MGT) announces the addition of a new 24-foot aluminum curtain-side glass carrier truck body to their line-up of commercial glass transport systems. This new curtain-side body offers glass manufacturers and commercial glaziers the best of both worlds. It protects glass from weather and highway debris like a van body while providing open access for loading small to very large pieces of glass like a flatbed or trailer.
Superior Glass Protection and Quick, Hassle-Free Loading
The curtain-side body features a rugged steel understructure with a choice of composite/wood, rubber or metal decking. Structural support for the body is provided by a strong, hot-dip galvanized welded steel frame with a leading edge that is aerodynamically angled at 45-degrees to boost fuel economy. Up front, the bulk-head is made from strong fiberglass reinforced plywood and the rear body panel features 3/4-inch thick trailer grade doors with anti-rack hardware for access to the interior racks. Bolt-on, vented rear wheel covers shield glass and the curtain from road debris and splash-back and can be quickly removed for service access. Getting in and out of the body’s interior is easy due to the rear step-bumper with a non-slip surface and steel handholds. A translucent roof lets plenty of light into the cargo area and exterior LED running lights provide bright and reliable visibility in darkness and foul weather.
Strong, durable and pliable in cold and heat, the weather-proof curtain on both sides of the body is made from a single-piece of PVC-coated, double-weave polyester designed specifically for long-term use. Each curtain is double-hemmed and internally reinforced with high-frequency welded webbing to maximize tensioning capabilities. The material is also strengthened around the wheel-area to reduce wear. Available in a wide variety of colors, curtains can be custom imprinted with graphics ranging from simple one color designs to full color photographic images.
Straps with adjustable, instant-release buckles are double-bolted to the curtain at 24-inch intervals to securely fasten it along the bottom of the body for a crisp top-to-bottom fit. Bolt-on curtain tensioning devices at the front and rear of the body horizontally tighten the curtain with a few easy turns of a ratcheting handle for a finished surface that’s flat, tight and weatherproof. The tensioning devices may also be locked for theft protection.
Ball-bearing rollers surrounded on three sides by a strong one-one piece aluminum track ensure that the curtain glides effortlessly. All, or just a section of the exterior glass rack may be accessed by opening the curtain at either, or both ends of the body. The curtain is securely bolted to the roller assembly through four layers of webbing and the entire assembly is shielded along its entire length by a weather-tight “pelmet” that is reinforced at each end to maintain shape and resiliency.
Four Full-Length, Floor-to-Ceiling Glass Racks Maximize Capacity
Floor-to-ceiling glass racks run the entire length of the exterior and interior of both sides of the body. Each carrier is fabricated using strong, 1/8-inch thick 6061 T6 aluminum posts and slats, and joined together with aircraft-grade Huck® fasteners that won’t crack like welds on aluminum, or loosen from vibration like screws or bolts. Constructing the carriers and body-apron from aluminum reduces vehicle weight to maximize glass payload capacity. Vertical and 2-inch wide horizontal rubber padding is integrated along the entire length of the posts and slats to provide glass with the most protective padding available from any carrier manufacturer. The outside bottom ledge, front bulk-head and fender-top and sides are also padded to safeguard the edges of the glass.
Multiple options are available for securing glass to the carrier. The standard T6-Adjust-A-Pole features rubber triangle cleats that can be adjusted forward and backward, and to any position from the top-to-bottom of the pole. The cleats are easily locked in place with an easy-to-turn, heavy-duty injection molded T-nut. The pole’s shaft is made from strong aluminum with steel top and bottom sections that are bolted on for easy field servicing. The premium T6-Super-Pole has all the features of the Adjust-A-Pole plus the precision adjustability and tension control of Supertruck System 2 scissor-style cleats which are widely used in Europe. E-track and other cargo management systems are also available.
To minimize downtime during installation the curtain-side glass carrier body can be pre-built and installed when the truck is available. Custom modifications to this model can be designed on the company’s in-house 3D-CAD system.
